Dar Afia’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides expert care for newborns, spanning from antenatal to postnatal stages. Our NICU team is skilled and well-equipped to handle premature babies from 24 weeks gestation. Located on the 4th floor alongside maternal and child facilities, our NICU operates in three primary areas: Antenatal Consultations and Counselling: Collaborating with our fetal medicine team, we offer early support and counseling to parents, addressing potential concerns and engaging them in their baby’s management, especially in cases of prematurity or congenital issues. Maternity and Postnatal Care: For healthy newborns, we emphasize skin-to-skin contact, breastfeeding, and provide guidance on newborn care, ensuring thorough examinations by pediatricians before discharge. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU): With 5 fully equipped beds, our NICU delivers comprehensive intensive care for premature babies starting at 24 weeks gestation and full-term babies facing complex perinatal challenges.
